South Jefferson Lions Club
The Lions Clubs International was formed in 1917 when a Chicago businessman named Melvin Jones invited business clubs from around the USA to a meeting. Their mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through the clubs. For over 100 years, they’ve served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of their neighbors, their community and their world first. Currently there are 1.4 million lions around the world and 47,000 Lions Clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
The South Jefferson Lions Club has been serving the six townships located in the southern portion of Jefferson County during the last 59 years. The official club pin is a map of the six-town area and the icons on each township are in reference to an important industry found in that township.
