Sharon Silver
Sharon Silver and Martin Rothschild created the Harold Rothschild Memorial Scholarship to honor their late father, Harold Rothschild.
Harold Rothschild owned and operated Rothschild’s Jewelry Store for nearly 50 years in downtown Watertown on Court Street. Many residents of the north country recall buying their wedding rings, graduation gifts, watches and jewelry from Rothschild’s. Harold was always known as an honest, personable, and astute businessman who customers greatly enjoyed dealing with.
Harold excelled as a business leader and served as a director of the New York State Jewelers Association, a director in Rotary where he received the Paul Harris award for exemplary service, and treasurer of the Jefferson County Historical Society. His passion for downtown Watertown inspired his commitment to the business groups “Watertown Alive”, “The Downtown Business Association”, the “Chamber of Commerce” and the Masons.
During his retirement years, Harold mentored budding entrepreneurs and advised small business owners in Watertown through the Score program. Now his family hopes that Harold’s extensive business acumen will continue to benefit the Watertown community by awarding this scholarship to a deserving JCC business student with leadership potential.
