Peggy Brouty

This scholarship was established in 2009 in memory of Myrna H. Brouty. Mrs. Brouty was born September 17, 1934 in Dexter a daughter of Wellington J. and Mabel M. Doolittle Hardy. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1952. For ten years before her marriage she was secretary for Dr. Murray H. Gardener. In May of 1962 she married Ralph F. Brouty, retired Watertown Savings Bank President. Mr. Brouty retired in 2000. Mrs. Brouty was a member of the Dexter Presbyterian Church, was a calligraphist, a classic pianist and enjoyed performing piano at many school plays.

The student selected for this scholarship must exhibit musical talent. They must also write an essay that outlines their musical accomplishments and continued musical sharing in their community, either through continued musical performance or a desire to pursue musical education.
