James H. Cox

James H. Cox was born Dec.12, 1941 in Elmira, NY. He graduated from Western State College of Colorado, with a Bachelors Degree and Master’s Degree in Business. He later received a Paralegal Certificate from Syracuse University.

Mr. Cox worked several years at JC Penney’s as a management trainee. He also spent several years working at Jerome’s Clothing Store in Elmira as an assistant manager along with numerous other positions. He went to work at Jefferson Community College in 1968 as a business teacher and retired in 2000 as a Professor and later received Emeritus Status.

He was Past President of Planned Parenthood, board member of the JCC Foundation, member of the Jeff Lewis Mediation Center and former Vice President, member of the Neighborhood Watch Program in Watertown and he was an Eagle Scout.

Impact

The James H. Cox Business Administration Scholarship will be awarded to a second year student enrolled in Business Administration. The student’s GPA at the time of the award must not be greater than 2.5.

The James H. Cox Paralegal Scholarship will be awarded to a returning male paralegal student.
